Probate & Trust Administration

Probate is the court process that authenticates a will, appoints an Executor/Administrator and provides oversight to the estate administration. Unlike some other states, Washington probate proceedings provide an efficient procedure for the settlement of estates and in most cases there is very little active court involvement. Probate may or may not be necessary depending on the particulars of an individual’s estate planning and assets. There are often processes that are simpler and more efficient than probate for dealing with an estate and our office can assess the situation and provide options and advice. When a person has a Revocable Living Trust probate may not be required, but their may be a parallel process called “trust administration” that is necessary to wrap up the final affairs of the Decedent and distribute their trust estate.
